사역이 멈추지 않도록 Keeping Ministry Moving Forward

Abby는 한국에서 태어나고 자란 선교사 자녀입니다. 부모님이 월드 오브 라이프에서 전임 사역자로 섬기셨기에, 어릴 때부터 "엄마", "아빠"를 배우는 것만큼 자연스럽게 예수님의 이름을 알며 성장했습니다. 어린 시절부터 선교사들의 이야기를 즐겨 읽으며 이런 질문을 품었습니다. "왜 이 사람들은 평생을 예수님의 이야기를 전하는 데 바치는 걸까? 그게 그렇게 특별한 일인가?" 어머니의 설명을 통해 여섯 살 무렵 예수님의 구원의 선물을 받아들였습니다. 그러나 구원의 확신은 쉽게 찾아오지 않았습니다. 2009년 가족이 제주로 이사해 WOLBI 제주를 시작한 이후, 해마다 학생들과 캠퍼에 복음에 반응하는 모습을 지켜보면서도 Abby는 "나는 정말 구원받은 걸까? 아무 느낌도 없는데. 혹시 제대로 하지 않은 건 아닐까? 지옥에 가고 싶지 않은데!" 라는 의심이 반복되었습니다. 확신을 얻고 싶은 마음에 여러 차례 손을 들었지만, 그 안도감은 언제나 일시적이었습니다. 그러던 어느 날 밤, 어머니가 건네준 단순한 진리 하나가 모든 것을 바꿔놓았습니다. 예수님은 나의 과거, 현재, 미래의 모든 죄를 이미 치르셨다. 나의 구원은 내가 무엇을 했느냐 또는 하지 않았느냐에 달린 것이 아니라, 예수님이 무엇을 하셨느냐에 달려 있다. 언젠가 하나님 앞에 설 때 "제가 이런저런 일을 했으니 들어가게 해 주세요"라고 말하는 것이 아니라, "당신이 약속하셨고 저는 그것을 믿습니다"라고 말할 수 있다는 것이었습니다. 그날 이후 Abby는 단 한 번도 자신의 구원을 의심한 적이 없습니다.

Abby is a missionary kid, born and raised in South Korea. Her parents serve full-time with Word of Life, so she grew up knowing the name of Jesus as naturally as she knew "mom" and "dad." From an early age, she loved reading missionary stories and found herself wondering: "Why would they spend their whole lives telling Jesus' story? Was it really that special?" Through her mother's explanation, she accepted Jesus' gift of salvation around age six. But assurance didn't come easily. When her family moved to Jeju in 2009 to start WOLBI Jeju, she watched students and campers respond to the gospel year after year — while quietly wondering, "Am I really saved? I don't feel anything. What if I didn't do it right? I don't want to go to hell!" She raised her hand multiple times hoping to find security, but the relief was always temporary. Then one night, her mother shared a simple truth that changed everything: Jesus paid for all her sins — past, present, and future. Her salvation wasn't about what she had done or not done; it was about what Jesus had done. When she stands before God someday, she won't say "Let me in because I did x, y, z" — she'll say "Because You promised, and I believe You." Since that night, Abby has had no doubt: she is saved.
