복음으로 세워가는 삶 A Life Built on the Gospel

저는 조상 숭배의 전통을 이어 온 불교 가정에서 태어났습니다. 중학교 시절에는 반항적인 삶을 살며 나쁜 무리와 어울렸고, 20대 초반에는 2년간 한국 군대에서 복무하였습니다. 군 복무 중 한 장교가 제게 복음을 전해 주었습니다. 그 다음 주 절에 갔을 때 더 이상 절할 수가 없었습니다. 부처가 한낱 우상에 불과하다는 것을 깨달았기 때문입니다. 일주일 뒤 대대장이 교회 예배에 보내 주었고, 그곳에서 다시 복음을 들으며 그날 예수님을 구주로 영접하였습니다. 이후 한국에서 제자훈련을 받고 미국으로 건너가 4년간 성경을 공부하였습니다. 하나님께서는 그 길을 통해 저를 월코로 이끄셨습니다. 군 복무 중 한 장교가 그에게 복음을 전해 주었고, 절에 갔을 때 부처가 한낱 우상에 불과하다는 것을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 일주일 뒤 교회 예배에서 다시 복음을 들으며 바로 그날 예수님을 구주로 영접하였습니다. 이후 한국에서 제자훈련을 받고 미국으로 건너가 4년간 성경을 공부한 후, 하나님께서는 그를 월코로 이끄셨습니다.

I was born into a Buddhist family with a tradition of ancestor worship. During middle school I lived a rebellious life, running with the wrong crowd. In my early twenties I served two years in the Korean military. While serving, an officer shared the gospel with me. The next Sunday, when I went to a temple, I could not bow — I had come to see that the Buddha was nothing more than an idol. A week later my captain sent me to a church service where I heard the gospel again, and that day I received Jesus as my Savior. After being discipled in Korea, I went to the United States and spent four years studying the Bible. God used that journey to lead me to Word of Life Korea. While serving, an officer shared the gospel with him. On a visit to a temple shortly after, he realized that the Buddha was nothing more than an idol. A week later, hearing the gospel again at a church service, he received Jesus Christ as his Savior that very day. After receiving discipleship training in Korea and spending four years studying the Bible in the United States, God led him to WOLKO.
