복음이 바꾼 한 사람의 이야기 One Life Changed by the Gospel

안녕하세요, 저는 장성남 선교사입니다. 제가 어렸을 때 아버지는 벌이가 넉넉하지 않으셨고, 어머니는 돼지 농장에서 하루 종일 일하셔야 했습니다. 그런 환경 속에서 저는 반드시 큰돈을 벌겠다는 강한 열망을 품고 자랐습니다. 어떻게 하면 돈을 벌 수 있을지 고민하던 저는 고등학교를 졸업한 후 영어를 배우기로 결심했습니다. 당시 한국에는 영어를 할 줄 아는 사람이 많지 않았기에, 영어를 익히면 큰돈을 벌 기회가 생길 것이라고 믿었기 때문입니다. 그러던 중 한 미국인 선교사님을 만나게 되었습니다. 사실 처음 Word of Life Korea 제자훈련학교에 들어갔을 때만 해도 제 목적은 오로지 영어를 배우는 것이었지, 성경을 배우는 것이 아니었습니다. 하지만 하나님께서는 바로 그곳에서부터 제 삶 가운데 역사하기 시작하셨습니다. 시간이 흐르면서 하나님의 은혜와 선교사님들의 사역을 통해 제 안에는 변화가 일어났습니다. 그러던 어느 날, 미국인 선교사님과 성경 공부를 하던 중 예수님께서 나의 죄를 대신하여 십자가에 달리셨다는 사실이 마음 깊이 믿어졌고, 걷잡을 수 없이 눈물이 흘러나왔습니다. 그 순간 저는 제 마음과 삶에 예수님의 구원이 필요하다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 저는 지난 죄를 회개하고 그리스도께 제 삶을 드렸습니다. 그 후 저는 돈을 버는 것이 더 이상 제 인생의 목표가 아니라는 것을 깨달았습니다. 한 미국인 선교사님께서 제 삶을 바꾸어 놓으셨고, 저는 하나님의 말씀을 배우기 위해 미국으로 건너갔습니다. 그리고 이제는 한국 청소년들에게 복음을 전하는 사역을 하고 있습니다. 예수님께서 우리를 위해 기꺼이 목숨을 내어주셨기에, 저 또한 기쁜 마음으로 이 사역에 헌신하고 있습니다.

Hello, my name is Missionary Jang Sung-nam. When I was young, my father's income was limited, and my mother had to work all day long at a pig farm. Growing up in such circumstances, I developed a strong desire to earn a substantial amount of money. As I pondered how to make money, I decided to learn English after graduating high school. At that time, there were not many English speakers in Korea, so I believed that if I could master English, I would have great opportunities to earn significant wealth. It was during this time that I met an American missionary. To be honest, when I first entered the Word of Life Korea discipleship training school, my only purpose was to learn English, not to study the Bible. However, God began to work in my life right from that place. As time went on, through God's grace and the ministry of the missionaries, a transformation began to take place within me. Then one day, while studying the Bible with an American missionary, I came to truly believe in my heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. Tears flowed uncontrollably from my eyes. In that moment, I realized that I needed the salvation of Jesus in my heart and in my life. I repented of my past sins and surrendered my life to Christ. After that, I came to understand that making money was no longer the goal of my life. An American missionary had transformed my life, and I went to America to study God's Word. Now I am engaged in ministry proclaiming the Gospel to Korean youth. Because Jesus willingly laid down His life for us, I too am dedicating myself to this ministry with a joyful heart.
