저는 기독교 가정에서 자라났고 예수님이 구원의 유일한 길이라는 것을 의심한 적이 없습니다. 하지만 십 대 때 제 인생을 예수님께 헌신한 후에도, 저는 항상 하나님이 제가 실수하기를 기다리고 계신다는 두려움과 싸워야 했습니다. 그 두려움이 제가 하나님의 은혜에서 제외될 것 같다는 공포로 변했고, 시간이 흐르면서 그 두려움은 제 삶의 여러 방면에 스며들어 저를 병들게 하고, 외롭게 하고, 열정을 빼앗았으며, 신자임에도 불구하고 목적 없게 만들었습니다. 하지만 늘 그래오듯이, 하나님은 다른 계획을 가지고 계셨습니다. 하나님은 저를 활기찬 기독교 공동체로 감싸주셨고, 그곳에서 저는 그리스도와의 삶이 얼마나 목적으로 가득 차고 기쁨으로 넘쳐야 하는지를 깨닫게 되었습니다. 그리고 하나님은 그 새로운 환경을 통해 제가 복음을 이해하는 방식을 완전히 바꾸어 주셨습니다. 갑자기 저는 이것이 제 자신의 완벽함에 관한 것이 아니라 그리스도의 완벽함에 관한 것임을 깨달았고, 복음은 정말로 좋은 소식이라는 것을 알게 되었습니다! 결국 하나님은 저에게 용기를 주셔서 해외로 나가 월코의 Jr. SYME 프로그램에서 단기 선교자로 섬기게 하셨습니다. 그곳에서 하나님은 바울의 말씀, 곧 "내가 약할 때에 강함이라"(고후 12:10)는 말씀의 참된 의미를 저에게 드러내 주셨습니다. 저는 만약 하나님이 저를 사용하셔서 저처럼 신앙의 길을 걷고 있는 다른 청년들의 마음을 바꾸시는 일을 더 많이 하실 수 있다면, 기꺼이 약함 속에서 평생 섬기겠다고 결심하게 되었습니다. 요약하자면, 하나님은 저 안에 새로운 것을 깨우셨습니다. 그것은 제가 알던 두려움이 아니라, 한국의 차세대 청년들을 복음의 참된 기쁨과 열정과 목적 속으로 인도하도록 돕고 싶은 소망입니다.

I grew up in a Christian family and never doubted that Jesus was the one way to salvation. But even after I committed my life to Him as a teenager, I always battled the fear that God was waiting for me to make a mistake that would disqualify me from His grace. Over time, that fear of falling short crept into my life in other ways, leaving me sick, lonely, passionless, and purposeless, even as a believer. But as always, God had another plan. He surrounded me with a vibrant Christian community that made me realize how purpose-filled and joyful life with Christ should be. Suddenly, I saw that it wasn't about my own perfection, but Christ's, and that the Gospel truly is Good News! Eventually, while serving as a short-term volunteer in WOLKO's Jr. SYME program, God revealed the true meaning of Paul's words: "for when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Cor. 12:10). I realized I would gladly spend my life serving in weakness if God could use me to do more of His heart-changing work in other young people like me. In short, God had awakened something new in me—not the fear I'd known before, but a desire to help lead South Korea's next generation into the full joy, zeal, and purpose of the Gospel.
